To me this painting is a reminder that beauty does not need perfect conditions to exist ...that even in the darkness, something soft and luminous can bloom.
At the heart of the bouquet, I painted one of my favorite flowers, the Japanese poppy, as a symbol of fleeting beauty and the precious intensity of the present moment. Its delicate presence invites us to slow down and remember that nothing is meant to be held forever; some of the most beautiful things are beautiful precisely because they are ephemeral.
Soft pastel roses unfold around it, bringing a feeling of tenderness, romance, and quiet femininity. Moths drift among the blooms, drawn toward the flowers and the light of the moon (top right)... little creatures of transformation, intuition, and surrender.
I also incorporated real shells that make the vase unique (there are from a beach near my home in south west of France) ...it brings a piece of the ocean into this dreamlike flower bouquet.
For me, the shells create a connection between two places I return to again and again in my work: the garden and the sea, the earth and the water, the tangible and the dreamlike.
The warm pinks and soft, glowing colors create a world that feels almost suspended in time ...
