Yellowstone & Grand Teton: The Story Behind My Paintings
In 2011, my husband and I set off on a road trip across the United States, drawn by the promise of discovering the wild beauty of the American West and see wolves in the wild for the first time...
Since childhood, I had dreamed of seeing a wolf and a bear in their natural habitat. That summer, those dreams became reality. I remember the stillness of the meadows, the sound of wolves howling at night, and the golden light settling over the mountains. There was something profoundly moving about being surrounded by such untamed beauty.
Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons left a mark on my heart that has never faded.
A Love Letter to the Wild
What stayed with me was more than the breathtaking scenery. It was the feeling of being part of something larger than myself — a world where animals move freely, mountains hold their silence, and nature reminds us of what truly matters.
In 2017, I returned to those lands...I was especially moved by Grizzly 399, the remarkable mother bear whose life touched so many people.
Her strength, resilience and devotion inspired me to create Matriarch of the Tetons, a tribute to her extraordinary spirit.
Wolves, bears, foxes, eagles and vast mountain landscapes each carry their own story.
Through my paintings, I seek to capture not only their beauty, but also the freedom,
vulnerability and quiet power that make the wild so unforgettable.
